Spring 2026 - $1,000,000 FMA Student Investing Challenge Sponsored by StockTrak & Cerifi

FMA student members are invited to participate in this virtual trading competition. Using the proprietary StockTrak online system you'll have access to research tools, detailed information about companies, the complete list of ticker symbols, financial statements, and more.

When: 

The next Challenge will run 1 February 2026 to 10 April 2026. Participants will need to register and invest $900K by 13 February 2026 to be eligible for prizes.

The Rules:

You'll start with $1,000,000 in your portfolio and can build it by selecting equities from the U.S., Toronto, and Mexico exchanges, as well as U.S. bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs.

You must invest at least $900,000 within two weeks of the Challenge open and remain invested through the end of the Challenge to be eligible for prizes (your cash balance must not be above $100,000 at the close of the Challenge).

• There is a diversification rule of no more than 10% in any one asset;
• There is a maximum of 400 transactions for the trading period; US (including ETFs), TSX and Mexico
• Minimum price for buying a stock is $5;
• Commission of $10 per trade;
• No buying on margin or short selling;
• No day trading;
• Interest earned on cash is 3%.
• This Challenge is open to current FMA members only
• Faculty can take part too, but are not eligible for prizes!

The Prizes:

The top ten students with the highest portfolio values at the end of the competition will share $1,600 in prizes!

The top three students will also receive complimentary access to the CFA Level I, self-study course offered by Cerifi, valued at over $400.
