Spring 2025 - $1,000,000 FMA Student Investing Challenge 

StockTrak and FMA have teamed up to host the Spring 2025 $1,000,000 FMA Student Investing Challenge.

FMA student members are invited to participate in this virtual trading competition. Using the proprietary StockTrak online system you'll have access to research tools, detailed information about companies, the complete list of ticker symbols, financial statements, and more.

When: 

The spring challenge will begin 9 AM ET on 3 February 2025 and close at 4 PM ET on 4 April 2025.

The Rules:

You'll start with $1,000,000 in your portfolio and can build it by selecting equities from the U.S., Toronto, and Mexico exchanges, as well as U.S. bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs. Global exchanges will be available in our fall competition. 

You must invest at least $900,000 by February 14th and remain invested through April 4th to be eligible for prizes (your cash balance must not be above $100,000 at the close of any day after February 14th.

• There is a diversification rule of no more than 10% in any one asset;
• There is a maximum of 400 transactions for the trading period; US (including ETFs), TSX and Mexico
• Minimum price for buying a stock is $5;
• Commission of $10 per trade;
• No buying on margin or short selling;
• No day trading;
• Interest earned on cash is 3%.
• This Challenge is open to current FMA students only
• Faculty can take part too, but are not eligible for prizes!

The Prizes:

The top ten students with the highest portfolio values at the end of the competition will share $1,600 in prizes!
