FMA International is pleased to announce its 23rd European Conference at the University of Strathclyde's Technology & Innovation Centre in Glasgow, Scotland. FMA’s European Conference brings together academicians and practitioners with interests in financial decision-making and provides a forum for presenting new research and discussing current issues in financial management and related topics.
Presentations of research papers, panel discussions, tutorials and exhibits will begin Thursday morning and end Friday afternoon. The Doctoral Student Consortium (by application) will be held on Wednesday, 12 June.

Jeffrey L. Coles Professor of Finance and Samuel S. Stewart Presidential Chair University of Utah
"Three Observations"
Jeffrey L. Coles is Professor of Finance and the Samuel S. Stewart Presidential Chair at the David Eccles School of Business, University of Utah. He taught previously at the University of Rochester, Stanford University, and Arizona State University. Professor Coles received his B.A. from Pomona College, in mathematics with distinction and economics with distinction, cum laude, in 1979. He received his Ph.D. in 1984 from Stanford University. While at Stanford, he was an associate at the Institute for Mathematical Studies in the Social Sciences, the holder of the Henry J. Newell Honors Fellowship, and a research associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research.
He has teaching and research interests in compensation, boards of directors, corporate governance and control, asset pricing, organization structure, and the utility industry and has published numerous academic papers in premier journals. He is Advisory Editor Emeritus of Financial Management, Co-Editor of the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Associate Editor of the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Advisory Editor of the Journal of Financial Research. His work is featured in a wide spectrum of business publications, including the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Fortune, and Investor's Business Daily, and in the broadcast media, including Wall Street Week, CNN News, and National Public Radio.
Doctoral Student Consortium on Wednesday, 12 June 2019
The Doctoral Student Consortium, coordinated by Dr. David Denis of the University of Pittsburgh, includes a panel session with distinguished scholars discussing the latest advances in research and offering career advice. The afternoon breakout sessions give participants the opportunity to present job market papers or dissertation proposals and receive feedback from the faculty and panelists. Accepted participants receive complimentary conference registration.
The application deadline was Friday, 15 February 2019.
